Seeing some near-term technical risk in EMC that makes me uncomfortable. Going to exit position and look to re-enter at a later date. Fundamental story does remain intact for me though.

Sorry to hear of your health problems. REIT are a large part of my investment strategy and I hold, rather than trade these. I use the technicals and puls backs to determine when to add and when to dump. I actually dumped all RSO a few weeks ago when it ran up. Now I am awaiting a new entry. I beleive there are macroeconomic headwinds we…[Read more]

Sorry about the delay, have had a hectic schedule. In this space there are many other names that have a better fundamental thesis than this one. The volume is pretty low for making a market and seems pretty top heavy in the technical. I do think there is a good chance for nat gas price recovery though, through the winter. In terms of…[Read more]

I am longer-term as I no longer see innovation out-pacing growth. Online ad model will become more-broken over time as the online ad market gets saturated. Google’s CPA calculations are shocking to me when there are so many alternatives to acquire a customer, and for much less money than adsense.

Been a crazy couple of weeks. I tend to like volaitilty as it has been for the past couple of weeks. How about you? Do you prefer to trade in high vol markets or do you prefer slow and steady?

    • I like both. If I can’t play both game then I don’t think I be a good trader in the long run. That goes for enter long and short as well. I don’t want to be standing on the sideline.

Very risky. I’ve been playing ZNGA on the options side. I like risk sometimes and like playing it through options where I can define my risk capital. I debated whenter or not to just pick up the ZNGA money and take it to Atlantic City, or bet on ZNGA. AC probably would have been more fun, but ZNGA won (this time). I’m playing straight calls…[Read more]

Not muh given the vol but ZNGA did have a close above the 13 day. Made for nice options trade. MACD just now turning bullish but don’t see much else in terms of technical setups.

Guess their going to kick the can down the road a little more. Still not sustainble long-term. Italy is probably okay as is Germany. But watch out Spain, especially the spanish banking system. There is massive risk there.

This one is tough. I can’t find any specific legislation on power other than what would be covered by general REIT rules which is really just paying 90%+ of taxable earnings back to shareholders in the form of a dividend. So it could be real estate, financial vehicles for real estate etc. Technically, as an example, I suppose a Wind Farm could…[Read more]

      • I do like to use the 13MA as well, but this stock did created a few whiplash. So I stick with the 20MA. Today it just touch the 20 MA second time as a resistance. The 13MA getting closer to the 20MA. That view telling me the bearish may take a pause. I also have a trend line that started at Mar 2 and made three touch on the trend line. Today…[Read more]

            • I just used the federal rate of .25 but I agree. Why can’t any of these calculators incorporate the current rate in there. It is not like the rates change each day.

              • Learning about options, maybe the question is who says it have to be default rate? Does it use foreign interest rates or creative idea of measurement for interest rate. Maybe some trader try to out smart the default rate.

Interesting, I’m going to dig into it over the weekend. Good time to think about renewable energy because oil is not high. When oil goes back up, renewable energy becomes more of an investment focus.

Going to talk about something besides energy for a moment. Tech spending not going to be very good over the summer. Looking at possible shorts. Software stands out as a possibility. There has already been so much downside action in names like $VMW and $MSTR. Is there more room to fall or is the move done and I’m too late to the game?

    • There is always room to fall. MSTR support level 90-100 as a thick support level, because there is an up gap in Feb 2011. The price have fail to filled the gap many times. You want to short now and get out 100? my view, I don’t think it worth that much. VMW have two support level you can look at. One is a trend lines that started in Oct 2010 and…[Read more]

    • Speaking of shorting the stock, I know that this is not a software. This stock ARNA is heavy news driven on the bullish side. It’s funny how oil seem to be tied to the euro stuff going on. If I go short euro, I can usually go short oil. Haven’t looked but I might assume it’s a trade that might work well for any global commodity.

Don’t know if it will bounce or not, but that isn’t really what I am playing with here. I have a longer term $45 target on $BP so I’m buying and holding. I have a $95 target on $OXY. Both have good divs. so they are longer term plays. $80 to $100 or $80 to $65? That is the question. I think the former is more likely the case. OPEC…[Read more]
